Bishop Bosco's visit to St Paul's Catholic Primary School

When Year 3 heard that Bishop Declan had resigned as Bishop of the Clifton Diocese, they were keen to know more about the next Bishop. As a class, we watched parts of the Episcopal Ordination of Bishop Bosco and with Miss White’s assistance, we learnt about Bishop Bosco, including the fact that he has two cats.

After watching the Episcopal Ordination, the children still had questions about Bishop Bosco, so we decided to write letters to him with our questions in them.

We were very excited when we heard that Bishop Bosco was going to visit us in school to answer our questions.

When Bishop Bosco first arrived in our classroom, we showed him the pictures from our Year 3 ordination of Bishop Ronnie.

We then sang our St Paul’s Catholic Primary School Catholic Social Teaching song written by Mr Herrick.  We sang one verse to Bishop Bosco, which was the verse which contains our Mission Statement in it of ‘Journeying Together, The St Paul’s Way’.

We showed Bishop Bosco some of the resources that we used for our Year 3 ordination.  Bishop Bosco explained to us what the different parts of the mitre represented.

We all were able to ask Bishop Bosco a question and he answered each one.  Bishop Bosco told us about his cats Elf and Louie.

Bishop Bosco then showed us his crozier and let everyone hold the top part of it.

We gave Bishop Bosco a present and a card to thank him for coming to visit us in Year 3.  We thought Elf and Louie would enjoy their treats and the toy!

Everyone wrote a message inside the card we made for Bishop Bosco.

We enjoyed meeting Bishop Bosco and we hope that he visits St Paul’s Catholic Primary School again.
